Mangu Local Government Set To Host National Open University

The Executive Chairman of Mangu Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bala Mwolpun, played host to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin) of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Samani Butswat, and the Commissioner for Higher Education, Plateau State, Dr. Mrs Kachollom Pyam Gang, in Mangu.

The visit was aimed at inspecting the site allocated by His Excellency, the Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang, for the establishment of a National Open University study center in Mangu.

Mwolpun expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Governor Mutfwang for choosing Mangu as the location for the university. He also commended the management of NOUN, represented by Prof. Butswat, and assured them that the local government would provide all necessary support to ensure the successful takeoff of the institution.

Prof. Butswat, in his remarks, expressed satisfaction with the structures already on the ground and also expressed confidence that the project would be completed within the stipulated timeframe. He also applauded the efforts of the Plateau State Government in prioritizing education.

The Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Mrs Kachollom Pyam Gang, also commended Governor Mutfwang for his commitment to education and assured that the state government would do everything possible to ensure the completion of the project and provision of necessary equipment within the shortest possible time.

This development is expected to bring education closer to the people of Mangu and its environs, and also provide opportunities for economic growth and development in the area.
